Hypertension Community Outreach Project
The Hypertension Community Outreach Project is comprised of six separate components which in tandem serve to educate and positively impact the lifestyle factors and overall health of approximately 3500 individuals. From child to senior citizen, the Project will reach and teach those in the neighborhoods of New Orleans that are in most need, utilizing a culturally relevant approach and the expertise and contributions of local professionals, government officials, and organizations.

Special Events Include:

·          All Day Hypertension Health Festival at the French market in Jackson Square on May 10, 2008. Hypertension screening, written materials promoting a healthy lifestyle, opportunities to meet hypertension experts and referrals to PATH clinics will be provided to attendees by volunteers guided by ASH members.

·          Evening Community Hypertension Health Forum at the ASHE Cultural Arts Center on May 13, 2008. This interactive forum will facilitate discussion of problems related to hypertension and its sequelae between members of the community, both lay and medical, and hypertension experts from ASH.
